Bexley’s Labour Group of councillors are pleased that the Elizabeth line has finally opened on May 24th to much excitement to many residents in Bexley, which saw a long queue form on the first morning of services running to Paddington from Abbey Wood.

This huge infrastructure project will help deliver many new jobs, homes and regeneration in Bexley and Bexley Labour group will continue to campaign for Cross rail to be extended to the Medway, better bus links from Abbey Wood station, to see the Docklands Light Railway extended to Thamesmead and Belvedere.

Cllr Stefano Borella, Bexley Labour Group Leader said:

“I am delighted that this crucial new railway that was approved by the last Labour government in 2008, previous and the present Labour Mayors Ken Livingstone and Sadiq Khan who should be applauded for helping deliver this new transport link, while Conservative politicians kept on talking this project down, Labour politicians just got on with delivering the project successfully”

Cllr. Mabel Ogundayo, Deputy Leader of the Labour group said:

“As ward councillor for Thamesmead East, I celebrate the fact that the Elizabeth Line will improve connectivity for many residents in Bexley, allowing travellers to get from Abbey Wood to Tottenham Court Road in 25 minutes and open new job opportunities for residents of Bexley”
